Frequently asked questions

We accept most major insurance. We are not currently accepting Medicaid or Medicare. Please contact Durango Family Therapy with questions about your specific plan and we will help you sort out coverage before your first session.

Individual therapy is $135 per session. Couples counseling is $165 per session, or $200 with Brent Dixon. Family therapy is $165 for two people, plus $25 for each additional family member. You can find full details on our Rates & Insurance page.

When you schedule your first session, we will send you a link to our client portal, where your initial paperwork will be waiting. Please complete it before your first appointment so we can use that time to talk rather than fill in forms.

Your therapist will usually ask what brings you in, along with some background about your concerns, your history and what you are hoping for. You will also talk through confidentiality and how therapy works.

It is just as much a chance for you to ask questions and see whether the therapist feels like a good fit. You will not be expected to share everything right away.

Both. We see clients in our Durango office and by telehealth anywhere in the state of Colorado, and you can switch between the two as your schedule needs.

We are at 2243 Main Ave., at 22nd and Main. There are three marked spaces for Durango Family Therapy; if those are full, street parking is available nearby.

To find our offices, go through the blue door on the south side of the building and up the staircase. There is a small waiting area at the top of the stairs. Have a seat there and your therapist will come out at your appointment time. Please do not knock on your therapist’s door, as they may be in session.
